Honda Passport TrailSport vs Subaru Outback Wilderness: Off-Road Comparison

We took the 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness and the 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport deep into the California desert for a real-world off-road comparison packed with hill climbs, articulation tests, sand washes, and challenging terrain. After driving both on-road and off-road, we found some surprising differences in ride quality, capability, traction, comfort, and value. The Passport TrailSport impressed us with its spacious interior, smooth ride, and rugged attitude, while the Outback Wilderness shocked us with incredible traction and confidence on loose terrain. The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is stunningly easy to drive fast, a true cheat code for both road and racetrack.
