We got the numbers, and more! The 1,250-horsepower ZR1X has been through our independent instrumented testing, plus some damp track laps and a drift session. We even dusted the pavement this time. But how quick is it to 60 mph, through the quarter-mile, and around our figure eight course? Is X gon' deliver it to ya? Combining the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 of the rear-drive ZR1 with an enhanced version of the front electric motor from the all-wheel drive E-Ray, the ZR1X promises the ultimate Corvette powertrain, with the Nurburgring lap time to prove it. Watch the video to see the results, because they're not as cut-and-dry as we expected.

This is the most important Audi in two decades—and we drove it. The Audi Concept C is a folding-hardtop electric roadster that marks the beginning of a new era for the brand. Spearheaded by design chief Massimo Frascella and fast-tracked by CEO Gernot Döllner, this drivable concept introduces Audi’s Radical Simplicity design language and a new “shy” interior that ditches plastic for tactile luxury and brings back the brand’s iconic precision “click.” With more than 500 horsepower, an 800-volt architecture, and rear-wheel drive, the Concept C feels every bit the spiritual successor to the R8—and a hint at the future Boxster EV from Porsche. It’s quick, beautifully balanced, and built to redefine how an electric sports car should look and drive.

Brabus, founded on the principal of offering performance upgrades for high-end Mercedes-Benz models, has undergone somewhat of a boom in terms of both scale and ambition. In recent years it's shifted from enthusiasts’ darling to polarizing purveyor of luxury rides, which some see as the 'finished article' and others deem to be a little much. We wanted to dig deeper on this fascinating, opinion-splitting company, so we headed to Bottrop, Germany, to tour the Brabus factory with CEO Constantin Buschmann, before getting to drive a 900 horsepower Brabus 911 Rocket R (formerly a 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S) and the insane, Brabus XLP 900 6X6 Superblack.

This is the first-ever MotorTrend Performance Vehicle of the Year, but this isn’t MotorTrend’s first rodeo. Since 1949, we’ve been awarding Car of the Year to a deserving participant so it only made sense to up the ante and show more love to its more fun and faster cousin: the performance vehicle. Judged against our meticulous criteria, a little well-known company by the name of Porsche took home the prize with its 911 GT3. Hear from the MotorTrend team on how Porsche took home the prize.

We traveled to Germany to drive the all-new 2027 Porsche 911 GT3 S/C, the first convertible GT3, to find out if it delivers the same thrilling experience as the GT3 Touring. With a 9,000-rpm naturally aspirated flat-six, six-speed manual, and open-air driving, this might be one of Porsche's most exciting 911s yet.

The 911 is Porsche’s heart and soul; the GT2 RS is the ultimate 911. Is that enough to win the title of Best Driver’s Car in a field of supercars whose layout doesn’t hark from the early 1960s?

The 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S is here—it's a hybrid. We tested the new Turbo S with launch control to get its 0-60 mph acceleration time and more. Its performance results rival the quickest supercars and hypercars, including Porsche's first hybrid, the legendary 918 Spyder. Does electric assistance make the 911 better?

History repeats in the best way for Volkswagen’s icon: the Golf lineup—GTI and R—earns MotorTrend’s 2026 Car of the Year. In refreshed Mk8 form, both models sharpen design and tech while honoring hot-hatch roots. Outside: crisper headlights, reshaped bumpers, illuminated grille bar, and a bolder R with aggressive aero and an available Euro Style package (lighter seats, no sunroof, Akrapovič titanium exhaust). Inside: a cleaner cabin centered on a quicker 12.9-inch infotainment system with conversational voice control powered by ChatGPT. On the road, MQB chassis tuning, stiffer springs, and revised mounts make it more planted and playful. Power comes from a 2.0L turbo: GTI 241 hp/273 lb-ft (FWD), R 328 hp/295 lb-ft (AWD), both with a responsive 7-speed dual-clutch. IQ.Drive driver assists are standard. Efficiency stays strong (up to 27 mpg combined GTI; 25 mpg R), and value impresses (GTI from $33,670; R from $48,325). A daily driver with real thrills—this is the Golf at its best.
