Recaro Seats Coming as an Option for 2012 Mini Models

Writer

Mini fans wishing for sportier, more supportive seats will have their wish granted, according to Mini enthusiast siteMotoringfile,as the brand will offer Recaro seats as an option for 2012. The Recaro sport seat option, which has been available in Europe for some years now, will now be offered to U.S. Mini enthusiasts for $3000.

Motoringfilereports that the seats will be available on all models except the Countryman and Cooper convertible. The seats will reportedly come in only one flavor: black leather and dinamica faux suede upholstery with heated seat cushions. For Cooper models, performance seating comes at the price of $3000. Cooper S and John Cooper Works models, however, get a bit of a break at $2750. Those prices are a bit high when compared to the Recaro sport seat option for the Ford Mustang, which costs $1995 in the Boss and $1595 in the Shelby GT500. Recaro seats for the Cadillac CTS-V, however, are priced at $3400.

A quick Google search reveals a pretty broad price range for aftermarket Recaro-brand reclining sport seats, with the seats costing anywhere from $500 to $1500 each. We're guessing those prices don't include the model-specific mounting hardware or cost of installation either. So if you're not keen on the idea of fitting aftermarket Recaros in your Mini, going the factory route might be for you. The option will be available on models built from March 2012 and onward.
