Hennessey Introduces Corvette HPE700 With Mean Burnout Video

Hennessey Performance Engineering has put out some ridiculously fast tuner cars over the years, and its latest creation should be no exception. Hennessey will show off its 2014 HPE700 Twin-Turbo Chevrolet Corvette at the Boca Raton Concours in South Florida later this month. Yes, the "700" in the name stands for what you think it does, and the tuner has a video to prove it.

The HPE700 utilizes a pair of 62-mm precision ball bearing turbochargers pumping out 7 psi of boost to deliver 707 hp and 661 lb-ft of torque. The system also makes use of mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing, dual wastegates and blow-off valves, and an intercooler with TIG-welded aluminum plenum. The HPE700 can be had with either a seven-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and can be equipped with optional 20-inch drag radial tires. Hennessey claims the car can hit 60 mph from a standstill in a searing 2.9 seconds, while the quarter-mile is estimated to come at just 10.5 seconds. Hennessey said top speed will exceed 210 mph, which is faster than the Hennessey C7 Stingray that broke 200 mph in Texas last December.

The HPE700 Twin Turbo will cost nearly $120,000, including the price of a Corvette Stingray with the required 3LT and Z51 packages. The tuner plans to produce just 24 examples of the car, which makes its debut Friday, February 21 at the Boca Raton Concours.
