Hennessey HPE700 LS9 Camaro Now Comes as a Convertible
Hennessey had already imagined its HPE700 LS9 Camaro before the revived Chevrolet muscle car was even out for sale and it can now be had as a convertible.

Speed freaks and Camaro aficionados can enjoy open-air motoring with 745 horsepower and 763 pound-feet of torque on tap thanks to this tuned two-door. The HPE700 is a Camaro stripped of its original engine and fitted with the Corvette ZR1's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, only with more power than what the crew in Bowling Green has to offer. The blown eight-cylinder is equipped with a higher flowing fuel system, supercharger pulley upgrade, cold-air induction system, stainless-steel headers, and beefier intercooler to support the eye-popping performance numbers. The six-speed manual is the only transmission available.
On paper, the hardtop version of the HPE700 is capable of hitting 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds with a trap speed of 130 mph. Both times were recorded with optional Nitto drag radials and Hennessey sends customers to a one-day performance driving course at Lonestar Motorsports Park in Sealy, Texas, in pursuit of extracting the driver's maximum skill. The heavily modified Camaro pulls 1.01 g on the skidpad and comes to a dead stop in 104 feet from 60 mph.
The HPE700 carries a starting price tag of $132,500 and is limited to just 24 units for the 2011 production run. Hennessey expects to have an example assembled in the spring and we imagine it would make for some pretty good video.
