2027 Toyota Sequoia First Look: Super Mild Refresh, but Hey, New Trailhunter Trim!
The bigger center screen is now standard, as is the option of getting the overlanding grade.
Toyota is busy updating its full-size body-on-frame vehicles. The 2027 Toyota Tundra was the first to be refreshed, and now it’s the 2027 Toyota Sequoia’s turn. The refresh is just as mild and, as with the pickup, introduces the Trailhunter trim to the lineup.

Fans of slower-speed overlanding, listen up: There’s now a full-size, three-row Toyota SUV available for you to go exploring with. The new Sequoia Trailhunter joins the existing SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone grades. It’s a package that builds on the SR5 with exclusive badging, different terrain mode selection, and Crawl Control with a locking rear differential. Other hardware includes front recovery hooks, extra underbody shielding, and Old Man Emu shocks. Everything rides on a set of Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tire–wrapped bronze wheels.
Across the 2027 Sequoia line, Toyota adopts a new front-end design it says “looks well-tailored and premium while remaining rugged and confident,” although we can’t tell much of a difference between this and the pre-refresh version. This Sequoia looks very much like the other Sequoia, which means purposeful blockiness. It’s not a bad thing. Toyota also says the LED light bar mounted on the grille has been updated to shine brighter. As before, this only functions when the high-beams are active.
Inside, tech upgrades include the 14.0-inch central screen moving from optional to a standard feature on all Sequoias. With it comes a built-in Drive Recorder dash cam. Upon activation, the vehicle’s exterior cameras can capture 20-second clips both manually and from triggered events. Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is included to keep everyone out of trouble everywhere else.
