5 New Toyota Snowhunter Concepts Are Here to Tackle Winter

Toyota reimagined the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia as exploration-ready winter battle rigs.

Yes, it’s still fall, but Toyota’s already got its eye on wintertime shenanigans. The easiest way to get through those cold months is to find an outdoor activity, and the rigs the company imagined for the new Toyota Snowhunter Concept Family are the most fitting accessories. Built on the body-on-frame 2026 Toyota Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia, each one brings a unique flavor to snow-verlanding (sorry).

Of course, the concept vehicles aren’t street-legal and are built with parts and accessories Toyota itself doesn’t always offer. Each wears Snowhunter camo exterior paint, a lift kit, Rigid lighting, black accents, and snow tracks powder-coated in white. Here’s a quick look at each one.

Tundra Snowhunter Concept

Toyota turns its full-size pickup into a rolling base camp. The TrailLift Pro setup gives the bed configurable storage options for supplies and gear. An articulating top rack lowers so you can load heavier equipment like canoes, kayaks, and bikes without too much strain.

Tacoma Snowhunter Concept

For something a little smaller that’ll fit on the trails better, the Tacoma Snowhunter Concept is designed for the self-guided explorer. That said, it still has all the off-road goods like cargo storage, recovery equipment, and an illuminated bed. There’s also a full-length bed rack and a roof rack for everything you might need to bring with you.

4Runner Snowhunter Concept

For those with less gear but the same adventurous spirit, the 4Runner Snowhunter Concept can take you much further than a normal 4Runner can. It sports Toyota Genuine rock rails, a roof rack with accessory panels, and a roof-mounted Thule cargo box.

Land Cruiser Snowhunter Concept

The Land Cruiser Snowhunter Concept trades the 4Runner’s cargo box for a ski rack as support for those looking to hit the slopes. Yes, you could take a helicopter to the trailhead. But what if you drove there instead? That’d be lovely for some backcountry skiing.

Sequoia Snowhunter Concept

This is for bringing the most amount of people and gear out into the wilderness. Not only is the Sequoia gigantic already, but the Concept outfits it with a roof rack with accessory panels and a roof-mounted cargo box for extra storage. Aluminum running boards give everyone a step up, and a TRD front skidplate makes sure nothing bashes the Sequoia’s underbody too badly.

The Snowhunter Concepts made their debut at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Which one is your favorite?

I got into cars the way most people do: my dad. Since I was little, it was always something we’d talk about and I think he was stoked to have his kid share his interest. He’d buy me the books, magazines, calendars, and diecast models—everything he could do to encourage a young enthusiast. Eventually, I went to school and got to the point where people start asking you what you want to do with your life. Seeing as cars are what I love and writing is what I enjoy doing, combining the two was the logical next step. This dream job is the only one I’ve ever wanted. Since then, I’ve worked at Road & Track, Jalopnik, Business Insider, The Drive, and now MotorTrend, and made appearances on Jay Leno’s Garage, Good Morning America, The Smoking Tire Podcast, Fusion’s Car vs. America, the Ask a Clean Person podcast, and MotorTrend’s Shift Talkers. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and watching the Fast & Furious movies on repeat. Tokyo Drift is the best one.
