2025 Toyota 4Runner Trims and Pricing: How Does This Wrangler Fighter Line Up?
It’s been alive for six generations, but Toyota isn’t resting its laurels when it comes to the 2025 4Runner.Despite its rather familiar look, the Toyota 4Runner midsize SUV is all-new for the 2025 model year, and pricing and trims have just been announced. If you want a midsize off-road SUV package from Toyota but don't necessarily want a hybrid-only Land Cruiser, you have options in the 4Runner now that are as much as $15,000 more affordable! If you do want to swing for Toyota's admittedly good i-Force Max hybrid, which is optional in the 4Runner, will you still save over the Land Cruiser?

The short and quick answer is yes. The new hybrid i-Force Max 4Runner starts at $53,440, which is less than the current $56,450 starting price for the hybrid-only Land Cruiser's entry-level 1958 trim. Both SUVs are based on the same platform with the same available hybrid powertrain, so really it comes down to the 4Runner's available optional third row of seating, versus the two-row-only, boxier heritage design appeal of the LC.
When it comes to off-roading, there are only two Toyotas that come to the mind of the average American buyer: the Tacoma and the 4Runner twins. While we got hints as to what we’d see on the 2025 Toyota 4Runner after the launch of the brand-new Tacoma, we really didn’t have a full story until the official launch of this sixth-generation 4Runner. From the run-of-the-mill SR5 to the overland-ready Trailhunter, here are the trims you’ll be able to choose from on your new 2025 4Runner when it hits dealers in the very near future.
2025 Toyota 4Runner Standard Equipment
Just like the fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner is new from the ground up. The 2025 4Runner rides on the same TNGA-F platform and utilizes a boxed ladder frame with a multi-link coil live rear axle, while the front continues to ride on a double wishbone independent suspension. This allows the brand-new 4Runner to tow up to 6,000 pounds with its 2.4-liter turbocharged I-4 engine making 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. However, the 4Runner will get two versions of that engine, with the second being the i-Force Max hybrid pumping out 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque thanks to its 48-hp electric motor sandwiched between the engine and the transmission.
This turbocharged hybrid four-banger replaces the old 4.0-liter V-6 and produces 86 hp more, while also allowing for a 2.4-kW 120-volt AC inverter for powering electronics. All 4Runners will use an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to either the rear wheels, or to a full- or part-time 4WD system, depending on the trim you select. Rear-wheel-drive models will gain an automatic limited-slip differential, while all 4WD models will get an electronically controlled Active Traction Control in addition to the auto LSD.
2025 Toyota 4Runner Standard Safety and Convenience Features
Every 2025 Toyota 4Runner will get Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, as that has become standard for every TNGA-F vehicle and will include Proactive Driving Assist that helps during regular driving if conditions are met while its active. Inside is very Tacoma-like, including the cover on the driver’s side dash that says “Accessory Ready” in Morse code. The Multi-Terrain Select system now works in both 4-High and 4-Low while a new CRAWL Control function is quieter than the previous iteration.
Also standard across all trims is the Smart Key System with push-button start, which enables phone-as-key ability for connected smartphones when you have an active Remote Connect trial or subscription. All 2025 4Runners will also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, while also offering connection though a USB-C data and charging port located on the right-hand side of the touchscreen. Dual USB-C charging ports are included in the front row as standard. All 2025 Toyota 4Runners will have second-row tumble seats for expanded cargo room.
