How Much Is the New 2024 Toyota Tacoma? More.

Did you think the new engines, new frame, and new look would come free?

Toyota is rolling out pricing for its fourth-generation 2024 Toyota Tacoma midsize truck. This ever-popular pickup—now based on the same platform as the Tundra and Sequoia—sports new engines, suspension setups, and styling. Poised to compete against the equally new Ford Ranger, GMC Canyon, and Chevy Colorado, the Tacoma enters the fray the reigning midsize sales champ. So, how much will the newest Tacoma cost?

We were pretty spot-on when we roughly estimated that the Tacoma would range from $30,000 to $50,000 earlier this year. There's a pretty big caveat to consider, though—the top end of that range has turned out to be higher. Much higher, now that we have numbers for the I-Force MAX hybrid powertrain and the higher-end Tacoma variants that get it standard, the Trailhunter and TRD Pro off-roaders. Both of those Tacomas start at over $60,000, and no, we’re not kidding.

No matter how you spin it, that's a lot of dough for trucks that are too big to be small, but too small to do big-truck things. At what point do you consider a lesser-trim half-ton truck? A full-size Toyota Tundra starts around $40,000. Anyway, here's the 2024 Tacoma’s full-lineup pricing:

2024 Toyota Tacoma SR

Cheap is not so cheap anymore. The beloved, steel-wheeled base SR trim returns for 2024, now in two-door XtraCab form (versus last year's extended-cab, four-door variant). The 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR XtraCab 4x2 starts at $32,995, a bit of a jump from the old Tacoma SR, which started at $28,380 (including a Utility Package that actuallylowersthe MSRP by $1,715 and strips the truck of several niceties and is geared toward commercial and budget buyers). The $4,615 difference means you can no longer buy a Tacoma for under $30,000. This is not really surprising, and in reality, you're getting a lot more truck for a few thousand dollars more.

The SR DoubleCab 4x4 tops out at $38,395, with the manual transmission, in this case, interestingly not saving or adding money. For the SR, the price difference between the XtraCab and DoubleCab is $2,200. We appreciate that Toyota offers both cab configurations in two- and four-wheel drive for its basic trim. Yes, you can spend nearly $40,000 on a base-trim Tacoma. Congrats. That hurts a little bit.

2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5

The next-level-up trim, the SR5, starts at $37,695 for the two-wheel drive XtraCab and extends to $41,895 for the four-wheel drive DoubleCab. The longer six-foot bed tacks on $500, which is the same upcharge across all trims that get the 6-foot bed option. The cab difference between the two- and four-door is $1,000.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner

The fun XtraCab 4x2 TRD PreRunner starts at $39,595. This two-door, two-wheel drive, leaf-sprung, locking rear diff'd back-to-basics pre-runner is a throwback to the past—but it'll cost ya current-day money. There's only one cab configuration for the PreRunner: The two-door, two-seat XtraCab. Still, it's a neat truck with an off-road look, two-wheel drive, and an unusual two-door setup.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road

The two-wheel drive DoubleCab TRD Sport starts at $40,895, with four-wheel drive tacking on $3,200—the going rate of adding four-wheel drive across all trims. The DoubleCab 4x4 TRD Off-Road sets you back $44,395, and the DoubleCab 4x4 Limited nearly $10,000 above that, at $53,595. Adding the I-Force MAX hybrid engine option demands $3,700 on top of those MSRPs for both TRD trims, and seemingly only can be combined with the shorter bed length, not the longer six-foot bed offered on both.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Limited

Like the TRD Sport and Off-Road models, the Tacoma Limited comes standard with the regular turbo i-Force MAX engine, and upgrading to the hybrid demands the same $3,700 as on those trucks. The Limited is geared toward luxurious trucking, however, with the lineup’s only application of electronically adaptive dampers, a standard JBL audio system, power-extending running boards, a head-up display, leather, and more. It starts at a rich $53,595, relatively in line the similarly intended GMC Canyon Denali.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter

Want the i-Force MAX hybrid setup and a long bed? Prepare to pay handsomely for the privilege, which also includes a bevy of overlanding-ready off-road gear, including Old Man Emu shocks, 33-inch tires, an ARB steel rear bumper, high-inlet air snorkel, rock rails, bronze TRD wheels, front anti-roll-bar disconnect, integrated air compressor, 2,400-watt inverter, and more. The Trailhunter starts at $64,395 with the short bed, crew-cab configuration, and the longer six-foot bed tacks on an additional $500. Every Trailhunter gets the 326-hp i-Force MAX hybrid standard. That is a ton of cheddar for a midsize pickup truck, even one as thoroughly off-road-prepped as the Trailhunter; for some perspective, Chevrolet’s Colorado ZR2, which doesn’t come standard with the Trailhunter’s adventure gear but otherwise matches its off-road equipment well, starts at $48,395—a whopping $16,000 less.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

Still reeling from the Tacoma Trailhunter’s $64,000 gut punch? Good, here’s another—the range-topping Tacoma TRD Pro model costs an additional $1,000, for a starting MSRP of $65,395. Unlike the Trailhunter, it comes only with the shorter bed length. Like the Trailhunter, it gets the i-Force MAX hybrid powertrain standard, along with a four-door crew-cab body. TRD Pro versions share their 33-inch tire size with the Trailhunter, but the rest of their off-road gear is different, with FOX-brand 2.5-inch internal-bypass shocks, red-colored forged aluminum front upper control arms, black-painted TRD wheels, and an exclusive IsoDynamic shock-absorbing set of front seats.

The chart below shows pricing for every 2024 Toyota Tacoma trim (including TRD Pro and Trailhunter) in two-door XtraCab two- and four-wheel drive, and four-door DoubleCab two- and four-wheel drive, all with the regular i-Force turbo 2.4L I-4 engine or available or standard i-Force MAX hybrid powertrain.
