Overland Hummer EV! EarthCruiser Creates the Ultimate Factory Off-Road EV
We finally get to see what EatheCruiser has built out of the all-electric truck. The 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup built by EarthCruiser could be the ultimate green, semi-factory camping machine, an incredible feat in new-age overlander engineering. Using absolutely zero gas, this all-electric Hummer camper has the ability to support you off-grid for up to a week—and that's without tapping into the truck's massive onboard battery. You won't be cramped or starving, either, as this pop-up camper topper fits a full-size RV bed and features a working sink, refrigerator with a freezer, and an induction cooktop.

You Don't Need A Gas Generator to Camp
With all of those features—and more we'll get to a bit later—you're probably wondering just what powers them all if not the Hummer's battery pack. Power for the Hummer EV Pickup EarthCruiser comes from a nearly 6-kWh 12-volt lithium battery that connects to a 1500-watt inverter, providing power to the 120- and 12-volt outlets throughout the camper. The 12-volt lithium battery also connects to a 605-watt solar panel mounted to the camper's roof, keeping it charged without relying on the Hummer EV's primary drive battery and affording roughly a week's worth of use out of appliances like the refrigerator/freezer combo, the induction cooktop, sink and other powered appliances. There are also lockable utility hook-ups if your camping trip takes you to a traditional RV spot.
Water, Water Everywhere
Speaking of water, you'll have 13.5 gallons of freshwater capacity along with seven gallons of gray tank capacity. Your freshwater can also be heated by the onboard 12-volt water heater system and can be accessed outside as filtered water, the same as you can get from the sink.
You'll also have the ability to bathe, as an indoor and an outdoor shower are included as part of the Hummer EarthCruiser overlander along with a flat-pack toilet. The bed is equally useful for more than just sleeping: It sleeps two but also offers storage underneath. When looking at it, the 2024 Hummer EV EarthCruiser sounds better equipped than some tiny homes.
Making It Fit
The Hummer EV Pickup is already a heavy and fairly large vehicle, so adding on a camper is going to increase its height and weight. EarthCruiser wasn't unaware of this, working with GMC on the creation of this all-electric overland vehicle. Solving the weight issue at least in part led to the use of carbon fiber for the camper shells and roof. While EarthCruiser didn't list the overall weight of the Hummer camper, the penalty is significantly reduced by not relying on extra metal to build it. The tri-layered fabric used as part of the camper top allows for multi-season camping in comfort, too.
To keep the height mostly in check, EarthCruiser went with a pop-up roof. When in "Drive Mode" and the roof down, the overall height is 90 inches. Go into "Camp Mode" and the roof will rise up another 27 inches (117 to inches tall overall). This gives users 80 inches in standing headroom at the entry area, 76 inches on the "hallway" step so you can reach the bed area, and 35 inches of space above you while sleeping in the bed area.
