2025 VinFast VF7 Expert Review
Reviewed by Bob Hernandez
VinFast says its VF 7 is a midsize electric SUV, but it also calls the VF 8 a midsize and that crossover is inches longer, wider, and taller. Given its size and projected power output, the VF 7 likely will compete more closely with the Nissan Ariya and Volkswagen ID4 . That makes it more of a compact SUV in our book.
Performance
Like the smaller VF 6, the VF 7 will be available in Eco and Plus variants. The more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive Plus model is expected to make 349 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, which is 53 hp and 123 lb-ft less than the larger VF 8. As for the single-motor front drive VF 7 Eco, look for output to measure 201 hp and 228 lb-ft of torque, the same as the VF 6 Plus. EV system charging and battery pack capacity details are not yet available.
How Big Is the VF 7?
The VF 7 jumps into a rapidly expanding small electric SUV segment. Measuring 178.9 inches long and 74.4 inches wide, it's longer than a Genesis GV60 but shorter than the Nissan Ariya. It's also as wide as the GV60, and both are wider than the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Look for two rows of seats with room for five passengers and a cargo area that falls in volume between the VF 6 and VF 8.
Safety, Technology, and Available Features
With options like premium vegan leather seating trim and a panoramic sunroof, the VF 7 will be positioned as an upscale electric crossover. Its exterior boasts a front LED light bar that's capable of animated effects and rear signature LED lights. Each VF 7 is also likely to receive a suite of active driver assist features.
