Ram’s entry in the electric commercial van segment, a small but competitive space, is the 2025 ProMaster EV. Introduced for 2024, the ProMaster EV lineup expands for 2025 with new cargo van variants to supplement the existing delivery configuration. The Ram ProMaster EV supplements the V-6-powered gas-only model and competes with the Ford E-Transit and Mercedes-Benz eSprinter.

What We Think
Advancement in electric propulsion technology has led to the feasibility of new cargo hauling and delivery solutions. The Ram ProMaster EV, which enters its second model year with new cargo configurations, is an excellent example of this emerging trend. With driving range well suited for around-town jobs and ample electric torque, the ProMaster EV is an appealing alternative to Ram’s gas-only van.
Available in standard and high-roof formats, the ProMaster EV is every bit as spacious as its gas-only counterpart with which it shares a platform. Creature comforts are decent for a vehicle in this segment, and the standard 10.1-inch touchscreen features niceties like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Payload is solid at a maximum of 3,020 pounds, but the gasoline variant is far more capable with its 4,680-pound limit.
Driving dynamics are similar to that of the gas-powered ProMaster, although the EV sets off with silent acceleration. The ride is settled without cargo, and the suspension is stiff enough to handle a full payload. Although our preproduction tester didn’t have this feature, the van boasts adjustable regenerative braking with one-pedal and creep modes, a feature that can be controlled via the Uconnect 5 infotainment software. A standard digital camera and 360-degree camera provide excellent visibility. Ingress and egress are obstruction free.
For all of its strengths, the ProMaster EV has some notable shortcomings. It’s one of the least efficient EVs currently on offer, returning a mere 1.5 miles per kilowatt-hour when unladen and matching the wildly inefficient Hummer EV. Pricing is eye-watering, starting around $80,000. Finally, front-wheel drive is the only available configuration. The ProMaster EV is a solid option amongst the small field of electric vans, but it doesn’t stand out as the obvious class leader.
Performance, Range, and Charging
Ram equips every 2025 ProMaster EV with a single motor driving the front wheels. Powered by a 110-kWh battery, the motor develops 268 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque. Delivery models offer a maximum payload of 2,030 pounds, and the cargo model is rated at 3,020 pounds. Ram claims up to 174 miles of city range, although the ProMaster EV’s combined range is an estimated 164 miles city/highway.
The ProMaster EV can charge at a rate of up to 11 kWh with Level 2 and 150 kW with Level 3. Fleet customers are expected to use Level 2 charging to replenish the battery overnight, but the pack can be fast-charged from 10 to 80 percent in 55 minutes. That should be quick enough to put juice in the battery during a lunch break before going back to work.
Safety Ratings and Features
Ram equips the 2025 ProMaster EV with a generous suite of active safety technology. Every van comes equipped with Ram’s ParkSense rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, Crosswind Assist, driver focus and traffic sign monitoring, automatic high-beams, and cornering lights. For improved visibility, Ram equips the van with a digital rearview mirror and a 360-degree camera. Optional features include lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, forward parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and semi-autonomous driving capability.
Cargo Space
Ram offers the 2025 ProMaster EV in three configurations, each with a 159-inch wheelbase. The cargo van variant can be had with a 12-foot cargo length and a high roof or an extended 13.5-foot body and a high roof. The delivery-oriented step van receives the 13.5-foot extended body and a super-high roof. Cargo capacity maxes out at 524 cubic feet.
Technology
For 2025, the Ram ProMaster EV comes standard with a 10.1-inch touchscreen running the Uconnect 5 operating system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with over-the-air update capability. Ram outfits the ProMaster EV’s infotainment system with route planning and software and a charging locator. Power solutions include a 12-volt outlet and USB ports in the dash. Delivery models receive a heated steering wheel and a heated windshield. Optional equipment includes a wireless phone charger and a 115-volt three-prong power outlet.
ProMaster vs. ProMaster EV
Both gasoline and electric versions of the ProMaster utilize a front-wheel-drive layout and produce similar powertrain specs. Gas versions feature a V-6 engine churning out 276 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque, sending power to the wheels by way of a nine-speed automatic transmission. Maximum payload is 4,680 pounds, made possible by the 3500 configured with the low roof and 136-inch wheelbase. A total of 39 configurations are available for 2025. Pricing begins just under $47,000.
