The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is an entry-level luxury compact sedan that slots below the larger C-Class. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.

Standard features on the A 220 include 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, two 7.0-inch screens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, keyless start, and Mercedes' MBUX interface with a touch pad.

Options include two 10.3-inch screens, navigation, a Burmester audio system, multicontour front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive dampers, a wireless phone charger, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and keyless entry.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The 2019 A-Class is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 188 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque in the A 220. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is the only gearbox available.

Safety

The 2019 A-Class hasn't been crash tested by the NHTSA and IIHS. Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard on the 2019 A-Class. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist and pedestrian detection are optional.

Cool Fact

The available MBUX interface uses two displays, a digital gauge cluster in front of the driver replaces traditional analogue gauges while the main one is now a touchscreen than can also be controlled via a knob or touch pad. Seven-inch displays are standard; 10.3-inch displays are available.
