Out on winding roads, if angling into an awkwardly steep curve and unloading the front tires, you can feel the torque quickly shift to the front axle to catch the grip and pull you through. The V-6 is no slouch, but given the power at hand, it doesn't mask that the GV80 is a large-ish, heavy vehicle; planted though its handling may be, it's an edge or two shy of sporty. There's a satisfaction to the V-6's acceleration that's missing in the four-cylinder version, but with more standard four-cylinder power than anything else in its class (for now), you can't argue Genesis isn't already at the top.

Interior Impressions

The 22-inch wheels and low-profile tires on the GV80 we drove for this review offset some of Genesis' claimed improvements in NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness), though they looked excellent, we must admit. There is now insulated glass the front windows, and more work done with materials and shaping of the rear end, and active noise cancelling for the benefit of all passengers. Genesis also has an audio partner in Bang and Olufsen, which now offers a 18-speaker surround sound system tuned with the brand's own software. Last year's bizarre ball shifter is also gone now, for a more straightforward rotary dial that's intuitive enough.

Some of the bigger changes to the interior we weren't quite able to test: a new fingerprint sensor will let you start the car without a key, and later this summer, the 2025 GV80 will finally get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. We like the presence of the new standard 27-inch center console screen that stretches into the driver display, however it includes some visual artifacts that move sometimes strangely behind key driver information that can be distracting. The menu mapping could use more customization, or better prioritization of radio and setting tiles or menus, and features a redundant home screen that we don't find necessary.

The new lower touch-screen-controlled climate functions aren't bad enough to complain about, and we appreciate that many center functions are still operable via hard buttons or dials. Other new standard features include surround view monitor, remote access with digital shared key, and driver profiles that the system learns user preferences for, which takes too long to test on a single drive.

Conclusions

The GV80 is said to represent a third of all Genesis sales in 2023, and half of the brands sales all-time, making it an extremely important, popular model that Genesis clearly doesn't need to alter too much in its current form. You're now getting a slightly improved car for 2025, at around the same price as 2024, something we consider a deal. Pricing starts at $60,050 for the 2.5T models and $75,150 for the 3.5T V-6 versions, after factoring in freight charges.
