What Else Will Get Aston Martin's New V-12 Engine?

The British supercar maker has an updated V-12 that's been totally reworked for a very exclusive future group of sports cars.

Earlier in April, Aston Martin announced a new path forward, strategically pushing back plans for all-electric models with renewed development of plug-in hybrid gas models for the foreseeable future. Now, the brand has announced a newly-refreshed V-12 powerplant for exclusive models going forward. Here's where we can expect the new V-12 to roll out.

Aston's newly redeveloped V-12 is good for 824 horsepower (835 PS) and 737 lb-ft of torque (1,000 Nm) in its twin-turbo configuration. The British automaker with a 25-year legacy of V-12 engines has strengthened the cylinder block and connecting rods, updated the cylinder heads with re-profiled camshafts, along with revised intake and exhaust ports. The spark plugs have moved to a new optimized position, with new fuel injectors with a higher flow rate, and the new reduced-inertia turbochargers spin at a higher speed. The automaker says its new V-12 engine will be handcrafted on a year by year count in strictly limited numbers for only the "most exclusive and limited-availability models."

The brand seems like it's ruled out a return of the V-12 Vantage with its latest release of the updated, up-marketed V-8 model with improved performance, but never say never, now. This latest V-12 press release goes out of its way to say "Vanquish" a few times, and we know it's bringing back an all-new flagship V-12 grand tourer car of the same name, originally introduced in 2001, last teased as a supercar but since cancelled. So, what else beyond that Vanquish is getting this V-12? We feel obligated to mention a new DBS could get a V-12, as well. It's always been suggested that the DBX SUV has space for a V-12 under the hood, so perhaps we should stay tuned for that at some point, too.

We've heard we could expect a big reveal of something from Aston later this summer, whatever it ends up as likely featuring a V-12 now, we'd guess.
