Roadkill Stuffs a 707-HP Hellcat Engine in General Mayhem

The 1968 Dodge Charger "General Mayhem" makes a comeback on this new episode of "Roadkill." This time around, hosts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan give us a behind-the-scenes look at how they prepped General Mayhem for the first annual Roadkill Nights event by swapping in a 707-hp Hellcat engine.

Since the event was sponsored by Dodge, the Roadkill duo had no issues getting a donor engine. It would come from a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that was going to be crushed anyway, so Freiburger and Finnegan were given the OK to gut the engine and much more. For help, they turned to Diversified Creations, a garage that specializes in putting new stuff into old stuff. The end result is pretty impressive. Not only does the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 put out up to 975 horses, but the team managed to include a few tech goodies like the Uconnect infotainment system complete with USB connectivity.

Next up, the team preps and tests General Mayhem fordrag race duty. First, they head to a local drag strip for practice runs before going on a 200-mile road trip to yet another drag strip.
