Lincoln MKR Concept headed for Detroit show turntable
December 27, 2006
As part of Lincoln's ongoing attempt to restore its former glory, a new four-door sedan concept dubbed the MKR will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, according to a recent report by Edmunds. Featuring a clean, bold, and elegant look, the MKR is a glimpse of the future Lincoln would like to create for itself.

The MKR was designed according to styling concepts that Lincoln has identified as inherent to the brand. The interior features a sloping and elongated console constructed from recycled woods and incorporates blue instrument lighting, mohair carpet, and cashmere seats - features that will likely not survive into production if the vehicle makes it that far.
Compared to the discontinued Lincoln LS sedan, the 4075-pound MKR is an inch longer and four inches lower. Power comes courtesy of a twin-turbo, E85 fueled, 3.5-liter V-6 rumored to produce some 415 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive will also be incorporated. Speculation says 0-60 mph should arrive in 5.3 seconds. Should the MKR ever hit showrooms, pricing would likely be upwards of $50,000.
