Mitsubishi announced its 2016 Paris Motor Show lineup, which will include the Ground Tourer plug-in hybrid conceptteased a few months ago.

According to Mitsubishi, the GT-PHEV concept is a "high-end next-generation SUV" built for "Functional Beauty, Augmented Possibility, Sculptured Dynamism, Japanese Craftsmanship." The augmented possibility likely refers to a fancy windshield that augments reality with navigation directions, powertrain data, and other info. The eX concept, first shown at last year's Tokyo auto show, featured a similar system.

Mitsubishi says the GT-PHEV concept has a hybrid system that includes three electric motors (one up front and two at the rear) and a battery pack with enough capacity to give the concept an estimated 75 miles of electric-only range; total range is rated at 746 miles.

GT-PHEV styling mimics the eX concept, including its front fascia featuring an "X" style grille with narrow foglamps. Meanwhile, the C-pillar is designed to give the appearance of a floating roof. The tailgate is sharply raked and the narrow, wrap-around taillights are reminiscent of the Jaguar F-Pace and Infiniti QX70. Mitsubishi didn't provide dimensions for the GT-PHEV concept, but based on the photos, it appears to be slightly larger than thethree-row Outlander PHEV.Late last year Mitsubishi's CEO said the automaker wouldshift its focus to crossovers, and the automaker appears to be committed to that plan with the GT-PHEV concept.
