Mini Cooper Clubman Spied with Less Camouflage

More station wagon, less hatch.
Writer

We spied the next-generation MINI Cooper Clubman out and about with far less camouflage than a previously spied prototype, revealing more of this larger Mini's new look. As expected, the next-gen Clubman shares a heavy resemblance to the current generation Mini Cooper Hardtop, which was redesigned and released for the 2014 model year.

Mini has been testing and developing this upcoming Clubman for quite a while, and showed a concept version of the car last year. While the previous generation of Clubman served as a slightly elongated variant of the standard two-door Mini, the upcoming four-door Clubman appears to take the wagon designation more seriously. The entire length of the body has been extended, no doubt to increase rear-seat room and cargo capacity. The signature split rear doors happily remain, giving unrestricted access to the rear.

This new MINI Cooper Clubman is just one part of Mini's plan for a revamped lineup with five core models. The MINI Cooper Hardtop is already offered in three- and five-door form, and a convertible variant on its way. The Clubman should make its debut this summer, followed by a redesigned Mini Countryman SUV. Finally, we'll get a roadster and a small, affordable subcompact called the Mini Minor.

While we wait for Mini to debut all of these exciting future models starting with this new Clubman, take a look at the spy shots below to catch a glimpse of Mini's future.
