A simple description perhaps, but a relatable one that gives you an idea of what chromology is all about. The study of how our brains perceive various colors and how that affects an individual is fascinating, and it's the subject of McLaren's recent collaboration with abstract resin artist Nat Bowen. She's responsible for the freaky-deaky color scheme applied to this McLaren Artura, and her artistic foundation is based on vibrant chromology-inspired pieces.

Noted as a clean-sheet affair, the Artura features a 3.0-liter, 120-degree, hot-vee six-cylinder set-up good for over 670 hp. It's also accompanied by the brand's Axial Flux motor and lithium-ion battery which can have the car putting along the interstate for almost 20 miles all by itself. The team effort seems fitting, given that the Artura name is based on "art and future," and that was the theme agreed upon by the automaker and artist.

The result is dozens of bright hues provided by what the group refers to as translucent resin pigments that carry an ultra-shiny appearance that take in and reflect the light around the vehicle for an eye-catching display. Set atop the sultry lines of the Artura, the finished product is mesmerizing.
