Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration Concept Teased Ahead of Beijing Debut

Infiniti has released the first teaser for the QX Sport Inspiration Concept, which will officially debut at the 2016 Beijing auto show. The lone teaser image shows the left side of the car's front fascia and clearly shows a design language inspired by the 2017 Q60 Coupe and the Q80 Inspiration Concept that was originally revealed at the 2014 Paris auto show.

Immediately, the first detail that stands out in the teaser shot is the headlight, which features separate squares formed into a cluster outside the slender housing that's connected to the grille. The car's lower front fascia appears to have some black body cladding on it, hinting that this is a crossover.  A large vertical air intake is positioned below the headlight, which could indicate that the QX Sport Inspiration Concept is a look at a future sporty crossover. The car also features the same grille found on newer Infiniti vehicles but based on the photos, the QX Sport Inspiration has a larger, more prominent version.

"The QX Sport Inspiration expresses a power and purpose that is uniquely Infiniti," said Infiniti executive design director Alfonso Albaisa. "With a flowing, natural aesthetic, this concept demonstrates how Infiniti can offer something new and exciting with future QX SUV models."

Currently, Infiniti sells theQX70 as its sporty crossover offering and it's powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 rated at 325 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque that's paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission. This concept could preview a replacement for that model, which last saw a major redesign in 2009.
