With the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee reveal at the New York Auto Show today, Chrysler also introduced its new V-6 engine. Named "Pentastar," appropriately enough, the 3.6L engine uses double-overhead camshafts, coil-on-plug ignition, and runs on regular and E85 fuels without degradation to performance or economy, according to Chrysler.

In the Grand Cherokee, the V-6 produces 280 horsepower 6400 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. Chrysler says 90% of peak torque is available from 1600 to 6400 rpm. The V-6 will reach through the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge lineups, contributing an important two mile per gallon increase to Chrysler's CAFE score.
