Mazda CX-70 Is Dead, Replaced by CX-90
For 2027, Mazda is folding the two-row CX-70 into the CX-90 lineup, but only two nonhybrid trims offer the two-row cabin.
Mazda is dropping the CX-70 in the United States for the 2027 model year, just two years after the two-row SUV arrived. Its role will be taken over by two-row versions of the CX-90, which has so far been sold only with three rows. The change does not extend across the lineup: only the 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport and 3.3 Turbo S Premium Sport can be ordered without a third row. Mazda is also ending the two-row plug-in hybrid configuration.

That leaves buyers sorting through a slightly more complicated CX-90 range, with body style and second-row seating varying by trim. Of course, the move makes the Mazda lineup as a whole less confusing, as the CX-70 and -90 only differed in terms of how many people could fit inside—hardly enough to justify two model names in our opinion. Here is how the 2027 CX-90 lineup breaks down, including seating choices and starting prices.
2027 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo Select
The Select is the entry point to the gas-powered CX-90 lineup. Its 280-hp turbocharged inline-six uses a mild-hybrid system and pairs with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance and automatic emergency braking.
The Select has a third-row bench and room for eight passengers. Inside are leatherette seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-speaker audio system. The three-zone climate control includes vents for the third row.
It rides on 19-inch wheels and includes LED headlights, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers and a power liftgate.
2027 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo Preferred
The Preferred adds heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel. Its 12.3-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the cabin gets a wireless phone charger.
Roof rails and 21-inch wheels distinguish the exterior. Front and rear parking sensors are also standard.
2027 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport
The Premium Sport is the first gas trim available as a two-row SUV. Buyers can also choose a third row, with either a second-row bench for eight seats or captain’s chairs for seven.
It has a dark exterior treatment, including black 21-inch wheels, a piano-black grille and black mirror caps and roof rails. Alexa Built-In is standard.
The seating configuration is the main cabin choice that separates this trim from the lower models.
2027 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus
The 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus adds Nappa leather, Mazda Online Navigation with over-the-air updates, and signature lighting. Its adaptive front-lighting system can turn the headlights into corners, while a 360-degree camera system helps with low-speed maneuvering.
2027 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Sport
The Turbo S uses a higher-output version of the 3.3-liter inline-six: 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on recommended premium fuel, or 319 horsepower on regular. It also adds Sport, Off-Road and Towing drive modes, the latter of which can pull up to 5,000 with the required accessories.
Like the non-S Premium Sport, this trim comes in two-row or three-row form; the three-row version seats seven or eight. The exterior gets a blacked-out treatment, including black 21-inch wheels.
Cabin highlights include a panoramic moonroof, head-up display, Nappa leather, Bose 12-speaker audio and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. Wireless smartphone integration and Mazda Online Navigation are also included.
2027 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus
The top gas trim is configured for seven, with second-row captain’s chairs and a three-seat third row. It adds black or white Nappa leather, with an available Japanese Premium interior package that includes Maple Wood trim. Other additions include ventilated second-row seats, a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel, interior footwell lighting and a 150-watt cargo-area outlet.
2027 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Preferred
The plug-in hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh battery. Combined output is 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using recommended 91-octane fuel. Mazda estimates up to 27 miles of electric-only range, and the PHEV offers Sport, Off-Road and EV drive modes.
The Preferred seats seven, with a second-row bench and two-seat third row. It includes heated first- and second-row seats, ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2027 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Premium Sport
The Premium Sport adds black 21-inch wheels and other dark exterior trim. Inside, it brings Bose 12-speaker audio, a head-up display and a 1,500-watt outlet in the cargo area. Alexa Built-In and connected navigation are standard.
2027 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus
At the top of the PHEV range, Premium Plus adds Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and a driver-personalization system that stores seat, mirror and steering-wheel settings. It also gets signature lighting, adaptive headlights and a 360-degree camera system with views useful for parking and lining up a trailer.
