The 2027 Ram ProMaster City Van Starts at Just $39,995
This makes it the cheapest commercial van in the United States.
There’s an alarming dearth of new vans for sale in the United States, and basically no compact ones. The 2027 Ram ProMaster City is back after being retired in 2022, and seemingly just in time, too, as a viable commercial solution made even stronger by its sub-$40,000 starting price.

The City starts at $39,995 for the base Tradesman Cargo grade, well below today’s average price for a new car. The full pricing lineup is as follows:
- Ram ProMaster City Tradesman Cargo: $39,995
- Ram ProMaster City Tradesman Passenger Wagon: $42,695
- Ram ProMaster City SLT Cargo: $41,495
- Ram ProMaster City SLT Passenger Wagon: $44,195
Two trims of the ProMaster City are offered, the Tradesman and SLT, and in either cargo or passenger configurations. Standard features on all include a digital rearview mirror, digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and heated front seats. Upgrading to SLT brings front parking sensors, a wireless phone charger, a heated steering wheel, fog lamps, body-color fascias, and 17-inch two-tone aluminum wheels.

All versions are powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing a claimed 166 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. That’s sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 2,000 pounds, as is payload capacity. Stellantis also says the van can fit into most urban garages, which is the whole point of the City: Sometimes you just need a smaller van to get the job done.
Among commercial vans, other options are the regular Ram ProMaster, Ford Transit, Chevy Express, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Larger and more versatile, they’re all also more expensive, with starting prices in the $45,000 to $50,000 range.
Production of the 2027 ProMaster City will start later this year and Stellantis says they’ll start showing up at dealers in Q1 of ’27.
