The 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma Starts at $71,495

The 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma marks the beginning of a new era for the automaker. Magma isn’t just the name of Genesis’ racing team; it’s also the name of the new high-performance division whose badge will appear on the brand’s most powerful vehicles. As the first production model to get the moniker, the GV60 Magma arrives with high expectations. We recently drove it in South Korea and came away impressed by how quick, powerful, and entertaining it feels. Better yet, Genesis has announced that the electric performance SUV will start at $71,495, well below our initial estimate of $85,000.

The 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma is closely related to the 2027 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, sharing its dual-electric-motor setup, which produces 641 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. Add an electronic limited-slip differential, a virtual gear-shift system, and active sound design, and the result is one of the most entertaining performance EVs on sale today. As in the Ioniq 5 N, the Magma’s virtual transmission simulates upshifts and downshifts, while its synthesized engine note is likely to make you laugh more than once.
The GV60 Magma will be offered in a single configuration, so we don’t expect its base price to climb much beyond perhaps a premium for one or two of its four available exterior colors: Magma Orange, Uyuni White, Vik Black, and Makalu Gray Matte. Inside, the GV60 Magma comes with suede bucket seats with orange stitching, aluminum pedals, and a 27-inch display that combines the infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster, complete with race-inspired graphics.
Unfortunately, the GV60 Magma will initially be available only in California, New York, and New Jersey, with Genesis saying that select dealerships in those states will carry the electric SUV. We hope availability expands over time, just as it did with the standard GV60. That model was initially sold in only a handful of states but is now available in 37.
