The first model to roll out to the world on BMW’s all-new Neue Klasse platform is the 2027 BMW iX3, which you can think of in some ways as the all-electric X3. Then again, maybe you shouldn’t, because this new BMW EV SUV is different from the present X3 in just about every way possible. We’ve already told you quite a bit about it, including how it drives, how fast it will charge, and how well it stacks up against its primary German competitor, the Mercedes GLC EV.

Now, we finally have concrete details from BMW on the 2027 iX3’s estimated range as well as firm pricing numbers and option packages, at least for the first iX3 model destined to hit BMW’s U.S. showrooms.

Pricing for the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive will start at $62,850. Standard equipment includes all-wheel drive, a NACS port, the bigger central screen augmented by the automaker’s new pillar-to-pillar screen, updated steering wheel, luxury upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a host of other safety features. For reference, the gasoline-powered 2026 X3 30 xDrive and X3 M50 xDrive start at $52,650 and $67,850, respectively, which positions the iX3 in between the two from a pricing perspective. With the BMW iX officially discontinued, the iX3 will soon be the only all-electric BMW SUV available from the German automaker until further notice.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a BMW pricing story about an all-new model without taking a closer look at the healthy options list. Here are some of the iX3’s available highlight features:

  • Comfort Package ($1,500): Multifunction seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic glass roof
  • Driving Assistance Professional Package ($2,500): Traffic jam assist, active lane change with eye activation, highway and commuting assistant
  • M Sport Package ($2,500): Sport steering wheel, a choice of wheels ranging from 20 to 22 inches and variously priced, M Sport exterior and interior elements
  • M Sport Professional Package ($4,000): M Sport Package goodies, exterior lighting, M Sport brakes with blue or red calipers, M steering wheel
  • Perforated Merino leather ($1,500)
  • Standalone heated steering wheel ($200)

As we’ve previously reported, the iX3 utilizes BMW’s newly developed battery technologies that are designed to maximize overall efficiency and charging speeds, and with a reported 434 miles of potential range depending on spec, we’d call the new iX3 extremely efficient in an age where 300-plus miles to a charge is the norm for an all-electric SUV. It’s particularly impressive when you consider the automaker’s next Neue Klasse-based model, the smaller i3 sedan is estimated to deliver up to 440 miles of range.

Many factors can impact an EV’s range, with the rolling stock fitted to the vehicle being one of them. In this case, BMW has done some of the guesswork for us and published range estimates for the 2027 iX3’s specific wheel and tire packages:

20-inch Summer Tires (No-cost option)

434 miles

20-inch All-Season Tires (Standard)

383 miles

21-inch Summer Tires

398 miles

21-inch All-Season Tires

399 miles

22-inch Summer Tires

392 miles

As you can see, even with the bigger wheels, the iX3’s range should still be quite impressive. If it were us, though, we’d roll with a 20-inch wheel option, which should make for a more comfortable ride.

Thanks to a maximum charge rate of 400 kilowatts, the iX3 is said to be able to charge from 10 to 80 percent battery capacity in 21 minutes and gain an estimated 185 miles of range in just 10 minutes under ideal charging conditions. BMW is aiming for U.S. market deliveries to start on September 25, but if you can’t wait, the online configurator is now live. You can now log on and design and reserve your own with a $1,000 deposit.

I got into cars the way most people do: my dad. Since I was little, it was always something we’d talk about and I think he was stoked to have his kid share his interest. He’d buy me the books, magazines, calendars, and diecast models—everything he could do to encourage a young enthusiast. Eventually, I went to school and got to the point where people start asking you what you want to do with your life. Seeing as cars are what I love and writing is what I enjoy doing, combining the two was the logical next step. This dream job is the only one I’ve ever wanted. Since then, I’ve worked at Road & Track, Jalopnik, Business Insider, The Drive, and now MotorTrend, and made appearances on Jay Leno’s Garage, Good Morning America, The Smoking Tire Podcast, Fusion’s Car vs. America, the Ask a Clean Person podcast, and MotorTrend’s Shift Talkers. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and watching the Fast & Furious movies on repeat. Tokyo Drift is the best one.
