Every year, Toyota reveals a new TRD Pro–exclusive signature paint color. Previously, we’ve seen dirt- and clay-inspired hues of Terra and Mudbath, and even a zany electric green, but for the 2026 model year, Toyota decided it needed a brighter color. And it also turns out we’ve seen this "new" color before at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas—albeit used sparingly—and applied here to the entire bodies of 4Runner, Tacoma, Sequoia, and Tundra TRD Pro models so equipped, it makes for a very visually pleasing color for these off-road centric trucks and SUVs.

Back at the 2024 SEMA Show, Toyota unveiled a unique 4Runner concept based on the newest model then about to hit dealerships called the TRD Surf concept. It was a take on the original 4Runner design with a removable rear roof section and only two doors. While we’re not about to see that layout become reality just yet—please, Toyota!—there was something on that SUV that would make it: that contrasting, robin’s egg blue used on the emblems, features, and decals. That color is now known as “Wave Maker,” becoming the eleventh and latest signature color exclusive to the TRD Pro lineup.

It is certainly a contrast to the previous two colors that had more in common with dirt than the watery-inspired color we see right now. It’s a bright, but unoffensive shade of blue that really looks home on the Tacoma TRD Pro thanks to its black roof section and black overfenders. But even the Sequoia and Tundra TRD Pros look great in Wave Maker blue with their minimal black trim while the new 4Runner TRD Pro offers a great space in between the three takes.

Just like those previous signature colors, Wave Maker blue will not cost extra for the TRD Pro models, and that trim level will be the only way to get it when they arrive in the Fall. Well, until your local paint shop gets the code, and you can recreate it on your non-TRD Pro vehicle, maybe. It makes us wonder how a GR Corolla, GR86, or GR Supra would look in this color, TRD or otherwise...
