2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys '41 Comes In One Color—That You Pay Extra For
Despite the muted, extra-cost color, there's nothing subtle about Jeep's latest special-edition tribute to its military ancestor.
For as long as civilians have owned Jeeps, surplus or consumer, the urge to paint them olive drab with a few white stars, hang a shovel and axe on the side, and romp around the countryside like highly mobile infantry has existed. The military connection, the Willys MB heritage, has infused Jeep’s brand from the get-go, and the modern Stellantis-run Jeep is apparently more than happy to double down. Meet the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41 Special Edition, a headline-swamping name that indicates this is a limited edition model that leans heavily on its wartime ancestor’s image.

No one is going to mistake a modern Wrangler for a vintage MB/CJ—the contemporary SUV is massive in comparison to the original—but the real purpose of a special edition like this is to exude cool. Does the Willys ’41 succeed? We think so. The JL shape lends itself to rugged-looking add-ons, and the wheels seen here—drab-painted 17-inch aluminum wheels that look like tough steelies with a modern twist—really add to the charm.
With the doors pulled off, the pictured four-door reveals that tan interior inspired by the utilitarian original, and that helps the look, too. So does the blue-drab paint job on the stencil-style side decals—apparently the color used at the factory, although we’ll leave that to the military autoshow judges to argue the details. Purely from a modern aesthetic standpoint, the drab blue decals are subtler and more tasteful than the excessive contrast of white stencils on drab olive. They also hint at the blue color scheme applied to every Jeep 4xe plug-in product—of which the '41 is one.
It’s a 4xe PHEV, so there’s the familiar turbo 2.0-liter with dual e-motors and a 21-mile EV-only range. The tires fit the part, too, being 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2s. Otherwise, it's the Wrangler 4xe you know (and possibly love) from a mechanical standpoint.
