Messin’ With Baby Sasquatch? Ford Bronco Sport Could Get Beefed Up Off-Road Package

Just like the bigger Bronco, the smaller Sport could be in for a Sasquatch upgrade.

Not wanting its Bronco Sport to be left wanting for attention after its platform-mate, the compact Maverick pickup, just got a lot of eyeballs for its 2025 update, Ford is hinting that its adventurous small SUV with the iconic name will be getting some updates of its own. Ford's teaser includes a furry hand and plenty of telltale grunting—well, if you're a Ford off-road fan, at least—and can only hint at one thing: something sassy is going on.

Sasquatch Sighting

With the teaser's Sasquatch theme, it seems that Ford is all but confirming that a more off-road-focused Sasquatch package inspired by the package by the same name on the larger Bronco is headed to the Bronco Sport, with a debut coming August 26th. In the clip, we see the rather muddy back end of a Bronco Sport before a furry hand reaches into the frame and writes “8/26” in the mud. Kind of putting it on the nose, ain’t you, Ford?

What Could a Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch Even Be?

Since that’s all the detail Ford’s giving us, we’re going to have to speculate a bit. The good news is that we have a good starting point with the larger Bronco's Sasquatch package (as a general guideline of what the package will represent—the highest factory tier of off-road performance short of a Raptor variant), as well as the mechanically related 2025 Ford Maverick. That trucklet recently launched with a new Tremor package, and we suspect that the Bronco Sport Sasquatch will more or less borrow liberally from the Tremor feature set.

The 2025 Ford Maverick Tremor is packed with a 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost I-4, an advanced 4WD system with a torque-vectoring rear axle, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, there is a heavy-duty transmission cooler, 17-inch wheels with 235/65R17 (just a hair bigger than 29-inches in OD) all-terrain tires, and the Trail Control system. There isn’t any extra suspension lift for the Maverick Tremor, so all the ground clearance is being made by the tires.

That’s a good starting point, but considering that this is a Bronco Sport, we’d expect the Sasquatch end up a little more hardcore than the Maverick Tremor. Looking at the current lineup, the 2024 Bronco Sport Badlands is already close to Tremor specification, so expect that the Sasquatch to come with a mix of taller tires, possibly an intake snorkel, rock rails, a roof rack, and new front and rear bumpers made for additional tire clearance and possibly a small, factory installed winch. If you’re thinking “that’s close to a Bronco Everglades,” that’s what we’re thinking, too, but for the smaller Bronco Sport.

Thankfully, none of us will be waiting long as the August 26th debut is only two weeks away. Get ready for a new Sasquatch sighting.
