Ram 1500 TRX Pickup Is Dead: R.I.P. Ford F-150 Raptor Fighter
The Final Edition models will send this generation of the TRX off to the big oil field in the sky.
The supercharged 1500 TRX pickup is an endangered species as of today. Ram announced that this monstrous truck's demise will occur at the end of 2023, so the 2024 model year will be the TRX's last. Unlike the dinosaurs it's named for, the Ram sees its impending extinction coming—and will get a special, limited-edition model—the 2024 Ram 1500 6.2L Supercharged V8 Final Edition, which is a mouthful—to celebrate its send-off.

What Stays the Same
The Final Edition will bring some goodies, to be sure, but let's be clear about one thing up front: there are no mechanical changes. This is a mix of aesthetic and convenience upgrades, paired with a somewhat limited number of models to be built in total—up to 4,000, Ram says. That means the 702-hp supercharged V-8 that pumps out 650 lb-ft of torque, and its TorqueFlite 8-speed auto, go unchanged. Not that we have any gripes with this hardware as-is, to be clear.
The Final Edition Goodies
You can have the TRX Final Edition in any color you like, plus a few you didn't think of beforehand. There are eight color options in total, but three—Delmonico Red, Night Edge Blue, and Harvest Sunrise—are exclusive to this model. A few other cosmetic changes abound, like beadlock-ready wheels in a Satin Titanium finish.
Inside, owners will feel a little more special with special "Patina" stitching, an embroidered TRX setback logo, a special splash screen for the instrument cluster, and a center console badge showing the build number. Matte carbon fiber will grace the instrument panel, doors, console, and steering wheel. A 19-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system brings tunes to the TRX party.
What Price, Semi-Exclusivity?
You and up to 4,000 fellow TRX nuts will pay $119,620 for the privilege of taking ownership of a 2024 Ram TRX Final Edition. That's nearly $33,000 more than a base TRX. Get frisky with options and it's not too hard to get a 2023 TRX over the $100,000 mark, but even so, $120,000 for a TRX is a lot of dough.
TRX Will Return In …
Ram sure makes it sound like the Final Edition isn't the final word on the TRX. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, in a statement, said that, "it's not the end of TRX's story" and that more info will be revealed at a future date. That is more than a subtle hint that another TRX will follow, perhaps on a next-generation truck. We'll have to stay tuned for more on that later.
Like a lot of the other staffers here, Alex Kierstein took the hard way to get to car writing. Although he always loved cars, he wasn’t sure a career in automotive media could possibly pan out. So, after an undergraduate degree in English at the University of Washington, he headed to law school. To be clear, it sucked. After a lot of false starts, and with little else to lose, he got a job at Turn 10 Studios supporting the Forza 4 and Forza Horizon 1 launches. The friendships made there led to a job at a major automotive publication in Michigan, and after a few years to MotorTrend. He lives in the Seattle area with a small but scruffy fleet of great vehicles, including a V-8 4Runner and a C5 Corvette, and he also dabbles in scruffy vintage watches and film cameras.
