Winch and Repeat: 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor Gets a Built-In Winch

If you've ever longed for a factory winch on your Ford Super Duty, you're (probably) not alone. Now, for the first time ever, Ford is offering an available winch as part of the Tremor Off-Road Package for the 2020 F-Series Super Duty. The electric winch is integrated into the front bumper and is there to help clear the way should your off road adventures get blocked up by felled trees or fallen rocks.

A winch is also good for getting your Ram Power Wagon unstuck in the event of a run-in with some deep sand, as Jonny Lieberman and Jethro Bovingdon demonstrated in an episode ofHead 2 Head. The Power Wagon has offered a winch since the last generation car came out, and it has no doubt been a missing piece of the off-road puzzle for some Ford Super Duty buyers.

The available winch on the Ford can move up to 12,000 pounds should you find the need to move six tons. It comes as either a factory-orderable or dealer-installed option and will be available on both gas- and diesel-powered F-Series Super Duty Tremor models for the 2020 model year. The winch itself is made by Warn and will cost interested parties $3,000. That sounds like a lot for a small bit of kit, but anyone who's ever gotten stuck on a difficult trail knows these bad boys can come in handy.

The Ford Super Duty Tremor off-road pack for the 2020 model year was announced in 2019. It's essentially Ford's answer to the totally off-road capable Power Wagon—part of the Ram Heavy Duty family that wonMotorTrend'struck of the year award. The Tremor pack offers an upgraded suspension and bigger shocks tuned by Ford, and is available on all trim levels from XLT up. According to Ford, the winches will be available by the middle of 2020.
