More and more vehicles are being updated with Apple CarPlay, including the Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze, Kia Optima, and many others. Now, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata has joined that list. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available on the 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen and 8-inch navigation system for new 2016 Sonatas.

"Sonatas with CarPlay are rolling off our assembly line in Montgomery, Alabama, and arriving at Hyundai dealerships nationwide," said Mike O'Brien, Hyundai's VP of corporate and product planning, in a release. "Not only is Sonata built in America, it also is built with a high technology experience in mind."

Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users access to features including Messages, Music, Maps, and Phone through the infotainment system. It is compatible with iPhone 5 and newer models when running iOS 7.1 or higher. To keep focused on the road, consumers can initiate voice commands to Siri by pressing the voice button on the car's steering wheel.

Hyundai will announce Apple CarPlay for the 2016 Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid at a later date. It also plans on adding CarPlay capability to existing 2015 Sonata models with navigation and 2016 Sonatas with Display Audio or navigation. The automaker is working to offer these updates at no additional cost to customers. For a list of supported apps on CarPlay, click here.
