Besides the usual spy shots of the sleek S550 seen around Dearborn, most of this information has been kept a big secret. We already knew that three engines would be available for the new 2015 Ford Mustang (dubbed the S550) – an upgraded 5.0L V-8, upgraded 3.7L V-6, and a turbo four-cylinder 2.3L EcoBoost. But with that said, what are you getting with these new models?
Now, let’s get into the good stuff.
Available Colors –Competition Orange, Triple Yellow Tri-Coat, Guard Metallic, Deep Impact Blue Metallic, Race Red, Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Black, Ingot Silver Metallic, and Oxford White.
Highlights
The new Mustang features bountiful standard equipment such as 17-inch aluminum wheels, large brakes, HID headlights, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a six-speed manual, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a limited-slip rear differential for the base model V-6 starting at $24,495.
For those not able to get their hands on one of the 1,964 limited-edition 50 Year Mustangs, a 50 Year package will be available for the Premium EcoBoost and GT model editions.
With the V-6 model being the base, no Premium trim will be available. Premium trim will only be an option for the EcoBoost and GT models.
If interested in going turbocharged EcoBoost, that model is priced at $1,570 premium over the base model 3.7L V-6 model. The 2015 base model is just $1,090 over the current 2014 Mustang model. And if interested in the price gap between an EcoBoost and a GT, it is approximately $7,000 more than the turbocharged four-cylinder.
All GT cars will come with electronic line-lock and launch control.
3.7 Mustang V6 - Standard Equipment
Standard equipment for the base model Ti-VCT 3.7L V-6 include independent rear suspension (IRS), Selectable Effort Electric Power-Assist Steering (EPAS), six-speed manual transmission, vented 4-wheel disc brakes, 3.15 limited slip rear axle, tire mobility kit. While the six-speed manual transmission is standard, a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters is optional.
Other standard features new for this year includes HID headlamps, illuminated and locking glove box, leather wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescoping, speed and audio controls. For security and safety, new airbags for the driver knee, passenger/driver side-impact, dual front, and side curtain airbags (fastback) are available. A perimeter alarm has been added and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Other new standard equipment is the Intelligent Access with push-button start, rear view camera system, and SYNC with enhanced voice recognition and entertainment system, 911 Assist, 4.2-inch multi-function display, AppLink, and 2 Smart charging USB ports.
2.3L Turbo EcoBoost – Standard Equipment
If opting for the 2.3L turbo EcoBoost 2015 Ford Mustang, you have the option between the base or premium. Of course, a six-speed transmission is standard but you can grab the optional automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Standard Equipment on the base EcoBoost model include a 3.31 limited-slip rear-axle, blade decklid body-colored spoiler, LED fog lamps, bright aluminum instrument panel, 6-way power seats for both the driver and passenger, and track apps.
Of course, more options are available to add such as Recaro seats, spoiler delete, reverse parking assist, Wheel & Stripe Package kit, EcoBoost Performance Package (see below).
2.3L Turbo EcoBoost Premium - Standard Equipment
The EcoBoost Premium Package includes heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, pony projection lights, rear diffuser and 18x8-inch Magnetic Gloss Paint/Machined-Aluminum wheels.
The interior includes the aluminum accent dash panel, aluminum foot pedals, ambient lighting, bright door speaker, cup holder, air vent and instrument cluster surrounds, climate control with dual-zone automatic temperature control, illuminated sill plates, premium door trim, universal garage door opener, and leather heated/cooled seats.
Audio includes 9-speaker sound system with amplifier, satellite radio with 6 months free of Sirius subscription, and SYNC with MyFord Touch with 8-inch LCD center stack touch screen.
EcoBoost Performance Package Option
The EcoBoost Performance Package can be added to both the Premium and Base EcoBoost models which includes a gauge pack (oil pressure and boost), unique chassis tuning, upsized rear sway bar (fastback), larger radiator, heavy-duty front springs (fastback), larger brake rotors with 4-piston front calipers, 19-inch High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels on 255/40R19 summer tires, unique calibration (EPAS, ABS, ESC), 3.55 limited-slip rear axle and a spoiler delete.
5.0L Mustang GT - Standard Equipment
Standard Equipment for the base GT include Electronic line-lock (track-use), engine oil cooler, larger brake rotors with 4-piston calipers, and launch control (manual trans only).
The exterior will come with air extractor hood vents, dual bright exhaust with rolled and polished exhaust tips, raised blade decklid spoiler and 18x8-inch Magnetic Gloss/machined-aluminum wheels.
5.0L GT Premium - Standard Equipment
If opting for the top dog, premium-edition 5.0L Mustang, you get the Selectable Drive Modes, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, pony projection lights, and a rear diffuser.
The interior also has the aluminum accent dash panel, aluminum foot pedals, ambient lighting, dual-climate control, illuminated sill plates, premium door panels, heated/cooled leather seats, and a universal garage door opener.
Audio includes a 9-speaker sound system with amplifier, 6-month free subscription to SIRIUS satellite radio and SYNC with MyFord Touch with 8-inch color LCD touch screen.
Performance Package (Option) – Fastback Only
If opting for the Performance Package on your new Mustang GT, you get the strut tower brace, larger radiator, unique chassis tuning, upsized rear sway bar, heavy-duty front springs, gauge pack (oil pressure & vacuum), k-brace, Brembo 6-piston front brake calipers with larger rotors (manual trans), 19x9-inch front and 19x9.5-inch rear High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels wrapped with 255/40R19 (F) and 275/40R19 (R) summer tires only, unique stability control, EPAS and ABS tuning, 3.73 Torsen rear axle, and spoiler delete.
