2023 Mini Lineup: What’s New for the Cooper Hardtop, Countryman, and More
Mini offers new tech, new colors, and a pair of special editions.

Part of Mini's charm is that its vehicles share so many of their design cues with the original cars from 60 years ago. But that doesn't mean the Hardtop 2-Door, Hardtop 4-Door, Convertible, Clubman, and Countryman can stay in the past. This year, every Mini is getting standard Apple CarPlay, along with reshuffled safety features, new special editions, and aesthetic tweaks.
Whether you're looking for a whimsical small hatchback, an affordable EV, a stylish convertible, a long-roof wagon, or a small SUV, Mini has its latest and greatest ready for the new model year. These are all the updates to the Mini lineup for 2023.

2023 Mini Hardtop: What’s New
Mini's iconic hatchbacks are all about color for 2023. Zesty Yellow, a paint option that launched on last year's Mini Convertible, is now offered with the Cooper S and John Cooper Works variants of the Mini Hardtop. All Mini Hardtops are also now available with two additional multi-tone roof options, white and red, joining last year's blue option.
There is also a new special edition for the two- and four-door versions of the Mini Hardtop. Dubbed the Resolute Edition , it tones down the chrome trim and loud paint options of the standard model with bronze accents, and deep Rebel Green paint that was previously exclusive to the John Cooper Works Hardtop.
Looking at safety features, Mini has a few updates for its classic hatches. The Driver Assistance package now includes park assist and a head-up display, but adaptive cruise control has been removed from the package and is now a standalone option. That means examples equipped with a manual transmission can still be configured with the Driver Assistance package. Adaptive cruise control is only available with Cooper S and JCW models with automatic transmissions.
The entry-level Cooper Hardtop 2-Door and 4-Door also see a $500 price increase for 2023. If you go for the Cooper S or John Cooper Works variant, pricing is the same as the 2022 model year.

2023 Mini Hardtop Pros and Cons
Whimsical old-school styling, endless customization, unique multi-tone roof, playful driving dynamics, available manual transmission
Some awkward ergonomics, more expensive than comparably sized competitors, tight interior dimensions, stiff ride

2023 Mini Convertible: What’s New
The Mini Convertible is a two-door Mini Hardtop with a retractable roof. As such, updates to the Mini Convertible for 2023 are largely the same as those on its fixed-roof sibling. Just like the Hardtop, the Mini Convertible gets a new Resolute Edition with bronze trim and Rebel Green paint. Likewise, adaptive cruise control is now a standalone option, and the Driver Assistance package adds park assist and a head-up display. The base 2023 Mini Convertible Cooper has a $500 price jump over the 2022 car.

2023 Mini Convertible Pros and Cons
Quick even with the base three-cylinder, immediately recognizable design, long list of customization options, great fun to drive, among the cheapest convertibles you can buy
Style-first interior leads to less-than-ideal ergonomics, tiny trunk, compromised rearward visibility

2023 Mini Cooper SE Hardtop 2-Door: What’s New
The Mini EV, which Mini calls the Cooper SE, sees 2023 updates similar to those on the standard Hardtop and Convertible. Folks looking for a more comprehensive update should wait for the 2024 model .
For 2023, there are two new multi-tone roof options, and the electric Mini can be ordered as the Resolute Edition. Electric Minis are also now offered in Island Blue, and Rooftop Gray is no longer available. There are new upholstery options, too: Cloth Leatherette Black Pearl, Cloth Leatherette Black Pearl Light Checkered, and Chesterfield Leather Malt Brown. Pricing stays the same.

2023 Mini Cooper SE Hardtop 2-Door Pros and Cons
Cheapest EV on sale, batteries don't intrude on cargo space, great styling, decent performance, even more fun to drive than the standard Mini
Pitiful range, slow charging, interior ergonomics leave something to be desired, cramped rear seats, stiff ride, power output declines quickly under load

2023 Mini Countryman: What’s New
Mini is only making minor changes to the Countryman crossover for 2023. The space-saver spare tire is now a standalone option rather than standard equipment, and the Driver Assistance package has added park assist and a head-up display. Adaptive cruise control is now a standalone option.
All Countrymans, including the Cooper SE Countryman All4 plug-in hybrid, are offered in Untamed Edition guise. The new special edition features exclusive Momentum Grey metallic paint, black exterior detailing, four diagonal stripes in Frozen Bluestone, and unique wheel finishes. Inside, it's impossible to miss the Highland Green leather upholstery with blue and green contrast stitching. Prices are up slightly on base Countryman and Countryman ALL4 trims.

2023 Mini Countryman Pros and Cons
Good ride and handling, cute design, more space and better ride quality than any other Mini, available plug-in hybrid powertrain
Coarse and underpowered base engine, Android Auto is not available, can get expensive quickly

2023 Mini Clubman: What’s New
Mini is one of the few manufacturers to still sell a station wagon in the United States, and it has a handful of noteworthy changes for the 2023 Clubman. The multi-tone roof option that debuted on last year's Hardtop is now available on the Clubman in blue, white, and red. On the 2023 Clubman, buyers see the same changes to the Driver Assistance package as on the rest of the Mini lineup, meaning the addition of park assist and a head-up display, and the isolation of the adaptive cruise control option. Prices for 2023 remain the same.
The Clubman also gets a new special edition: the Untold Edition in Sage Green metallic paint. There are a few visual tweaks in dark green and piano black on Untold-modified John Cooper Works Clubmans. Brass exterior accents on the wheels and front grille complete the look. The interior is lined with Sage Green leather upholstery with contrast stitching and piping.

2023 Mini Clubman Pros and Cons
More space than a Mini Hardtop, deep customization options, retro-modern styling, fun driving dynamics
Barn doors are cute but gimmicky, firm ride, tricky ergonomics, can get costly
