2027 Hyundai SUV Lineup: All the Changes, Updates, and New Models
From Calligraphy Black Ink trims to possible future off-roaders, here’s what’s changing across Hyundai’s SUV range.

Hyundai’s SUV lineup doesn’t change as dramatically for 2027 as it did last year, but there’s still plenty to catch up on. Several familiar models receive new trims, equipment tweaks, and shuffled features, while the status of a few others is less clear.
Beyond the confirmed 2027 updates, Hyundai has also shown some intriguing new SUVs overseas and a pair of rugged concepts that hint at what could be coming next. Read on for everything we know so far about Hyundai’s 2027 SUV and truck lineup—and a few models that might be waiting just over the horizon.
2027 Hyundai Ioniq 5
For 2027, the Ioniq 5 returns with only a handful of minor equipment changes. Roof rails, previously limited to the XRT and Limited trims, expand to SEL and above, while HomeLink moves in the opposite direction and becomes exclusive to the Limited.
Hyundai also makes the cargo cover an available accessory rather than standard Limited equipment. Two matte paint choices—Gravity Gold Matte and Sage Silver Matte—are dropped for the new model year.

2027 Hyundai Ioniq 9
The big news for the 2027 Ioniq 9 is a new Calligraphy Black Ink trim, which gives the three-row electric SUV a darker, more distinctive treatment. It replaces the previous Calligraphy Design model and adds gloss-black accents inside and out. Hyundai also adds heated third-row seats and its Virtual Gear Shift feature to both Calligraphy and Calligraphy Black Ink models.
Elsewhere, a tailgate emergency lamp becomes standard across the lineup, and fingerprint recognition is dropped.

2027 Hyundai Kona
Don’t expect much new from the gas-powered Hyundai Kona for 2027. The subcompact SUV carries over with only a couple of minor equipment tweaks. Idle Stop and Go disappears from the entry-level SE, and ambient lighting is now reserved for the Limited rather than offered on SEL Premium and higher trims. Beyond that, the Kona returns essentially as before.

2027 Hyundai Kona Electric
After skipping the 2026 model year in the U.S., the Hyundai Kona Electric is set to return for 2027. Hyundai paused production because it had enough 2025 inventory to meet demand, but the automaker said assembly would resume in June for the 2027 model year.
Hyundai hasn’t yet announced detailed U.S.-market changes for the returning EV, and its own initial 2027 lineup release omits the Kona Electric while specifically listing the gas-powered Kona. For now, expect the returning small electric SUV to be largely familiar, with more specifics still to come.

2027 Hyundai Palisade
Like the Ioniq 9, the Palisade adds a new Calligraphy Black Ink grade, in this case for the hybrid, giving the three-row SUV a darker take on its top-end trim. Other changes are relatively minor: Eight-passenger seating becomes newly available on the Limited, the gas-only SEL Convenience trim is dropped, and most trims get a body-color rear license plate surround in place of the previous black piece.
Hyundai also swaps leather for leatherette steering-wheel material on lower trims and drops the Calligraphy’s UV sterilizer. It also adds an Ecotronic Gray/Brown interior combination to Calligraphy, replaces Typhoon Silver with Quantum Silver after December 2026, and drops Cast Iron Brown.

2027 Hyundai Santa Cruz
The 2027 Santa Cruz compact pickup gets a more substantial lineup reshuffle than most of Hyundai’s SUVs. The trim range is cut to just SE, SEL Activity, and XRT, with the regular SEL and Limited dropped, while XRT picks up several features that previously lived on the Limited, including a sunroof, heated steering wheel, auto-dimming mirror, rear armrest with cupholders, and Bose premium audio.
H-Tex-trimmed seats also become standard across the lineup. Hyundai drops 20-inch wheels and fingerprint recognition. Rockwood Green and Canyon Red exterior colors also disappear for 2027.

2027 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Santa Fe carries over with only a few small changes. Hyundai drops fingerprint recognition from Limited and Calligraphy models, while the SEL’s Advanced Rear Occupant Alert switches from a sensor-based system to a simpler door-logic setup. Digital Key 2 Premium also gets reshuffled, becoming available on XRT and above for gas models and on Limited and Calligraphy hybrids.

2027 Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai hasn’t yet revealed what’s in store for the U.S.-market 2027 Tucson, saying only that details will be announced later. The current generation arrived for 2022 and received a significant refresh for 2025, so we expect another year of relatively minor changes. A redesigned Tucson is already testing and is due to launch in Korea before the end of 2026, but we suspect that next-generation SUV is more likely to reach the U.S. as a 2028 model.

2027 Hyundai Venue
The Venue returns for 2027 with about as little change as possible. The only update Hyundai lists for the U.S.-market subcompact SUV is a new Mirage Green body with a black roof, replacing the previous Denim Blue and white-roof combination.
There’s a much newer Venue elsewhere in Hyundai’s global lineup—an all-new generation launched in India with fresh styling, dual 12.3-inch displays, and significantly upgraded technology and driver assistance features—but Hyundai hasn’t indicated that model is headed to the U.S., and with our 2027 Venue explicitly carrying over, any replacement here would appear to be farther down the road, if it comes at all.

Hyundai Boulder: Future Model
Hyundai’s Boulder concept points toward a much more rugged future for the brand. Revealed at the 2026 New York auto show, the boxy, body-on-frame SUV was developed in California and is aimed squarely at off-roaders such as the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, and Toyota 4Runner. Hyundai hasn’t confirmed a production date or powertrain, but it says the Boulder previews a new body-on-frame family that will eventually include a midsize pickup.
A recent patent image showed another rugged Hyundai SUV with clear Boulder similarities, although Hyundai North America says that particular design is not related to any North American concept or production vehicle. For now, consider the Boulder a strong hint of what Hyundai may be building toward rather than a confirmed 2027 model.
Hyundai Crater: Future Model
The Crater concept offers another glimpse at Hyundai’s increasingly rugged SUV ambitions. About the length of an Ioniq 5 but riding on huge 35-inch tires, the compact off-roader pushes Hyundai’s XRT treatment well beyond an appearance package with locking-differential controls, serious trail-focused hardware, and a tougher evolution of the brand’s design language.
Hyundai hasn’t confirmed a production version or even what would power one, but the concept can move under electric power, and we think there’s a decent chance some version of the Crater could eventually reach showrooms.
Hyundai Nexo: Discontinued
The first-generation Nexo has ended its U.S. run, and Hyundai says the redesigned model won’t be sold here. The hydrogen fuel-cell SUV was always a niche proposition, but we appreciated its quiet and comfortable ride, upscale cabin, and long driving range. Its undoing was the ownership experience: Sparse and unreliable hydrogen infrastructure made refueling a headache, and the Nexo itself was never especially engaging to drive.
