Polestar solidifies its niche spot in the luxury EV market with an expanding lineup for 2024. Born from a racing team, evolving into Volvo's performance car division, and now standing as a distinct brand, Polestar excels in crisp exterior design and minimalist interiors that make use of Scandinavian design principles. The automaker launched with the now-discontinued Polestar 1 grand touring car, which was quickly followed up by the Polestar 2 hatchback . Next steps include adding SUVs and fastbacks to the lineup. Keep reading for more on Polestar's lineup for 2024 and beyond.

2024 Polestar 2: What’s New

Polestar updates its core model , the Polestar 2 , for the 2024 model year. This EV hatchback receives new exterior styling, including a fresh SmartZone grille inspired by the upcoming Polestar 3 . The automaker has moved the base model's motor from the front to the rear, which should drastically change the entry-level Polestar 2's driving dynamics. Power increases by 68 hp for a total output of 299 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque.

Dual-motor variants receive a rear-biased torque split and a disengaging front motor, which should also liven up the EV during spirited stints. Power is rated at 421 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque due to the new setup. Maximum range for single-motor Polestar 2s grows to 320 miles thanks to a new 82-kW battery and charge rate improves to 205 kW. Although dual-motor models are only capable of a 155-kW charge rate, range rises to 276 miles as a result of the new battery.

Polestar outfits the 2 with more standard features, as well. Every version of the hatchback comes equipped with blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, cross-traffic alert with brake assistance, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and auto-dimming side mirrors.

2025 Polestar 4: Coming Soon

The next step in Polestar's expansion is the Polestar 4 , which appears to split the difference between a high-riding sedan and an SUV. From what we've seen so far , the Polestar 4 will wear the automaker's slick exterior design and come with a chic, minimalist cabin. Polestar pushes its love of stripped-down design even further with the 4: It will not come with a rear window. Instead, a roof-mounted exterior camera shows what's behind the car on an interior rear-view mirror screen. The Polestar 4 will be offered with a standard rear motor with 272 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, and an available dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that cranks out 544 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque. All models will come with a 102-kW battery pack. The automaker targets a driving range of 300 miles for RWD models and 260 miles for AWD versions.

Expect Polestar's full suite of driver assistance equipment to be offered as standard on the 4. The interior will come decked out in the automaker's latest technology, including a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, an available head-up display, and a 15.4-inch infotainment display with the automaker's Android-based user interface. Polestar indicates that Apple CarPlay will be offered as standard equipment along with built-in navigation by Google Maps, Spotify, and over-the-air update capabilities. Sound system choices are outfitted in the form of a standard 12-speaker setup or a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon arrangement. Prices? Polestar says to expect a starting price of around $60,000 at launch.

2025 Polestar 5: Coming Soon

The sleek Polestar 5 will arrive in the 2024 calendar year as the automaker's flagship grand touring fastback. As the automaker's range-topping car , we expect a dual- or tri-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain to be standard. Polestar will likely outfit the 5 with its biggest battery pack, possibly the 111-kW unit found in the upcoming Polestar 3 SUV. Range should be rated around 300 miles. Expect the interior to use vegan materials like the rest of the Polestar lineup. The Polestar 5 will likely get the automaker's largest displays with Google's operating system and most sophisticated technology offerings.
