The 2024 Cadillac XT4 Sings a New Tune With the Lyriq’s Fancy Screen
Cadillac’s updated compact SUV has all of the design cues and technology features that make it a true luxury contender.
Cadillac knows that not everyone is ready for electric vehicles, and it doesn't want its buyers to feel like they're getting short changed if they opt for gasoline-only models like its entry-level XT4 compact SUV . That's why Cadillac has plied the 2024 XT4 with a slew of upgrades for the new model, ranging from cosmetic exterior enhancements to an infotainment overhaul. We've covered the 2024 Cadillac XT4's updates here , but let's nail down how these changes develop the compact SUV into a true luxury vehicle.
The Cadillac Lyriq’s 33.0-Inch Display
To add an upscale touch to the 2024 XT4, Cadillac plucked the 33.0-inch infotainment display and digital instrument cluster screen from the Lyriq electric SUV. Reaching up the model range for a premium feature is a somewhat unusual move for an automaker to make, but we respect Cadillac's decision to class up the cabin of its entry-level model with significantly more digital real estate than what was previously available. The screen uses Google Built-In automotive software but still offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities in addition to a host of other applications that can be downloaded via the Google Play Store. Voice commands via Google Assistant are standard, but we'll dive deeper into that feature later in this story.
Embroidery Turns Negative Space Into Positive Space
Cadillac used the 2024 XT4's refresh to further dress up the interior with stylish accents. In the negative space between the new 33-inch display and passenger side of the dashboard, the automaker has trimmed the scoop to the right of the screen with an embroidered pattern that invokes the Cadillac Crest. At night, ambient lighting illuminates this area, ensuring that the cabin's textured appearance doesn't get lost at night.
Google Assistant Is Your Personal Butler
Cadillac has done admirable work with the 2024 XT4's interior by outfitting it with hard buttons and dials. However, it also outfitted its small luxury SUV with speech-activated controls. By saying "Hey Google," Google Assistant wakes up and instantly receives any voice command given by the driver or another passenger. Commands include making phone calls, sending texts, changing the in-cabin temperature, setting and adjusting the navigation system, tuning the radio, and accessing the driver's agenda. This software contributes to the 2024 XT4 cabin's upscale atmosphere.
Chevron Accents Everywhere
Luxury automakers love repeating patterns right now (you could call it a motor trend ). Cadillac is embracing this with a new grille design for the 2024 XT4, which is composed of tiny chevrons. This shape is one of Cadillac's signature styling elements, and it's decked the XT4 out with chevrons all over the small SUV's exterior and interior. All four seatbacks and the center stack's piano button control scheme make use of the automaker's chevron motif as well. These thoughtful touches elevate the XT4's luxurious presence inside and out.
Stylish Customization Options
A crucial element of the luxury car buying experience is the level of customization that automakers like Cadillac offer. To start, the automaker rebooted the 2024 XT4's range of 18- and 20-inch alloy wheels. Cadillac also offers three new exterior colors: Emerald Lake Metallic, Midnight Sky Metallic and Deep Sea Metallic. The interior is offered with five color combinations, many of which offer attractive contrast stitching (pictured above). Cadillac also offers the XT4 in Luxury and Premium Luxury trims with chrome finishing or a Sport model with black accents to cater to diverse tastes.
