GMC Will Show Off Hummer EV Accessories at SEMA

The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is a supertruck, but it's meant to be used just like a regular one. As such, GMC will be showing off a choice selection the 200-plus parts and accessories for the electric off-roader that will allow its owners to go camping, venture off the beaten path, maximize its storage capabilities, and more at this year's SEMA show. Over a dozen of these parts will be displayed on an Edition One pickup along with a production pickup and a pre-production Hummer EV SUV.

One of the trucks will showcase about a dozen of these new accessories and many of them will be in Tech Bronze. There will also be another dozen or so parts on display off the vehicles in the New Products Showcase, a feature row for new parts that debut at the SEMA Show.To encourage the racier side of Hummer EV fans, the Chip Ganassi Extreme-E all-electric race truck—stylized after the Hummer EV—will be on display at the 2021 SEMA Show as well.

"We knew from the outset that the strong character of the Hummer EV would inspire a high degree of personalization from owners," said Humberto Ortiz, lead designer for performance accessories. "The accessories developed for GMC Hummer EVs are inspired by its extreme performance capabilities. The accessories' design and functionality integration make them extensions of the vehicles themselves."

Off-Roading Parts

What's most impressive about the Hummer EV is that you don't need to install an switch panel to control the lights, winches, and other switchable off-road accessories you'll install. The Hummer's infotainment display can be customized by the user to include virtual switches for all of those components. This can also help to keep the interior nice and tidy without hard switches that would look out of place to the interior.

Speaking of those lights, there will be a 50-inch light bar and front-mounted auxiliary lights available for the Hummer EV. Not only will these light the road ahead but are also made to fit the Hummer's body exactly. If you really want to do hardcore off-roading, there is a vertical spare tire carrier made just for the bed of the Hummer EV along with rocker panel protectors with integrated steps.

If you like camping, well, GMC has you covered, too. A pop-up tent is available to Hummer EV owners that mounts above the roof and bed for easy storage and comes with an extendable ladder to help you climb into it. While you're out in the wild, you can keep your drinks and food cool without the need for ice with a Dometic CFX fridge.

Personalization

Even if you don't want to get your Hummer EV dirty but want it to pop, you have options to make it stand out, too. You can get certain exterior parts in either Performance Red or Tech Bronze like tow hooks, lunar map, a hood decal, and the new wheels made for the Hummer EV.

Storage is both a necessity and another way to customize your rig. That's why there is an available underseat storage tray, cargo rails for the bed, and even additional storage boxes that fit around the wheel wells. Those cool Sky Panels need a place to stow, too, so there is a Sky Panel Storage Tray Set for the eTrunk. Even just storing stuff in the bed of the EV pickup is made easier and better protected—by thieves or weather—thanks to a power retractable tonneau cover.

Made to Fit

All of the GMC accessories are made to work and fit it perfectly without detracting from the looks of the Hummer EV. "Their design and fit are integrated with the vehicle like regular production components," said Ortiz. "It means they appear and function as if they were installed on the assembly line, with production-level quality, too, compared to universal-type aftermarket components."

Display Vehicles

In addition to these accessorized display vehicles, the Chip Ganassi Extreme-E GMC Hummer EV race truck will be on display. Extreme-E, if you don't know, is the only all-electric off-road racing series in the world and was created by the same people behind Formula E. These vehicles can be stylized to look like production EV trucks and SUVs, but underneath the body panels is a spec chassis, battery, and motors for parity. It also features teams of two drivers with one being male and the other being female, and the series requires driver changes during the events.
