2026 Ford F-250 Expert Review

Reviewed by Zach Gale

Is bigger always better? That's the question Ford intends to answer with the incredibly capable 2026 F-250. Sporting a couple of updates across the lineup, the 2026 Ford F-250 joins the F-350 as part of the F-Series Super Duty lineup. What hasn't changed: The Super Duty trucks continue to offer a 500-hp Power Stroke diesel with 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

Competition comes from Ram 2500 Heavy Duty pickup as well as from the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD.

What's New

Basics

  • Lariat Premium package: Lariat Crew Cab 4WD models with the 7.3-liter gas V-8 can opt for this bundle of features that includes Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver assist tech, running boards, power-sliding tinted glass with a defrost feature, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and Trailer Reverse Guidance.
  • SuperCab Short Box is offered again: Big trucks are all about finding the right configuration that works for you, and Ford has brought back 148-inch wheelbase SuperCab/6.5-foot short box combo.
  • Diesel Tremor! We're not huge fans of the Super Duty version of the Tremor, but nevertheless that model is now offered with a diesel engine.

Exterior

  • The STX Appearance is now available on F-350 Dually models, with body-color bumpers, a painted grille, badging, and minor interior updates.

Interior

  • Ford Connectivity package: There's a new seven-year one-time purchase option.

What We Think

The 2026 Ford F-250 Super Duty is a good truck; it's just not a great one. If what you want are super-imposing looks and capability to match, the Ford is a good bet.

But what if you also want a calmer ride to and from the jobsite? Or a truck that's easier to maneuver? That's where we'd encourage heavy-duty truck buyers open to another brand to check out the usual players.

In this case, we're talking about the Ram 2500 and the HDs from Chevy and GMC. The Ram is a former Truck of the Year winner, and it continues to lead this segment with a more balanced combination of everyday comfort, interior features, and capability.

Where the Ford deserves a special callout is tech. We like the pickup's trailering tech and that, for 2026, it's available in the Lariat Premium package.

So yes, the F-Series Super Duty has best-in-class horsepower and torque—500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft on the 6.7-liter diesel—but that Ram is worth considering, as well.
