2026 Bentley Flying Spur Expert Review

Reviewed by Billy Rehbock

A year after Bentley introduced what it’s calling the fourth-generation Flying Spur, the ultra-luxurious sedan returns for 2026 with new trims and a less potent version of its powerful plug-in hybrid system. The 2026 Bentley Flying Spur faces off against other high-end four-doors like the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and Cadillac Celestiq.

What’s New

  • Base and Azure trims with lower-output V-8 PHEV powertrain developing 671 hp
  • Base model’s exterior detailing resembles that of the Flying Spur Speed
  • Azure trim gets additional exterior brightwork and a distinctive grille with 11 vertical slats
  • A Black Edition variant with Mandarin brake calipers, Black Edition badging, and dark interior accents
  • Available black exterior badging and black 10-spoke wheels

What We Think

Bentley combines its rich sporting heritage and luxury automaking pedigree in the 2026 Flying Spur. This opulent sedan is equal parts sports car and posh limousine.

Rear steering makes the Flying Spur feel smaller than it is, and the adaptive air suspension irons out the pavement for a serene ride. On a back road, the Flying Spur is nimble and engaging.

Although we already miss the seamless, linear acceleration delivered by Bentley’s now-discontinued W-12 engine, the new top-of-the-line Flying Spur Speed PHEV is still indulgent, but it makes you feel less guilty as its twin-turbo V-8 and electric motor work together to make more power and fewer emissions. What’s more, it gets nearly 50 miles of all-electric range.

The lower-level powertrain doesn’t offer the same drama as the ultra-high-performance setup, and we’ve noticed that it hesitates slightly off the line. Acceleration is beyond adequate, though, so every Flying Spur is exhilarating when the engine is in the powerband.

An exquisitely crafted interior makes the 2026 Flying Spur a complete package for well-to-do luxury sedan buyers. If you can pony up a princely sum, Bentley’s flagship four-door won’t let you down.

Top-Ranked Competitors:

Performance

Bentley offers all 2026 Flying Spur variants with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, an electric motor housed inside an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. An adaptive air suspension with an active anti-roll bar setup is also standard.

Base and Azure models are tuned to a combined output of 671 hp and 686 lb-ft. Bentley claims a 0–60-mph time of 3.9 seconds when the Flying Spur is equipped with the High Performance Hybrid powertrain.

Flying Spur Speed and Mulliner models receive what Bentley calls its Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain. Sedans equipped with this setup are the most powerful four-door Bentleys ever, developing a combined 771 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. Bentley claims a 0–60-mph time of as little as 3.3 seconds.

EV Range and Charging

Bently equips all versions of the 2026 Flying Spur with a 25.9-kWh battery, enabling 47 miles of all-electric driving range. Total driving range is 515 miles. Other EV features include an e-boost mode, a regen braking mode, and a full charge mode that uses the V-8 to generate electricity for the battery. Charging the battery takes 2 hours and 45 minutes at a peak rate of 11 kW.

Safety and Assistance Features

Bentley skimps on standard safety features for the 2026 Flying Spur. Default equipment is limited to parking sensors and front automatic emergency braking with swerve and turn assist.

Available tech is far more expansive, with features including the following:

  • Adaptive cruise control with lane following
  • Lane keeping assistance
  • Remote parking assistance
  • Night vision
  • A 360-degree camera with a 3D view

Cargo Space and Interior Room

The 2026 Bentley Flying Spur has a roomy interior with ample legroom in both rows. It’s not quite as long as an extended-wheelbase sedan, however, so there are four-door ultra-luxury cars with even more space in the back seat.

Technology

Infotainment

Bentley equips the 2026 Flying Spur with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A head-up display is available, and Bentley also offers a rear entertainment package with dual 10.1-inch displays for the second row.

Sound System

The 2026 Bentley Flying Spur’s standard audio system is a 10-speaker setup. Two upgrade sound systems are available for those desiring improved audio quality and fullness. The lesser of the two systems is a 16-speaker arrangement from Bang & Olufsen, and the ultimate option is a 19-speaker setup from Naim.

Available Upgrades

The standard infotainment display is a static unit mounted to the dashboard, but Bentley offers its three-sided rotating display that allows you to hide the touchscreen behind a panel with a clock, a compass, and gauges for outside air temperature, or switch to a veneered panel that matches the rest of the dashboard.

The Ultimate Bentley Experience: The Flying Spur Mulliner

Provided you have the funds, you can get a 2026 Bentley Flying Spur in one of four trims: Base, Azure, Speed, and Mulliner. Expect pricing to range from $250,000 for an entry-level model (if you can call any Flying Spur entry-level) to well over $300,000 for a well-equipped example.

At the top of the range is the Flying Spur Mulliner, which offers the most personalization of any version of Bentley’s sedan. Mulliner models stand out with a floating-diamond grille and Mulliner-branded vents and satin silver-painted mirror caps.

The 22-inch wheels exclusive to the Mulliner trim are also standard, further set apart by self-righting Bentley “B” center caps. There’s also a Mulliner-specific animated light show as you open the door. If there’s anything you want to add or change about a Flying Spur Mulliner, Bentley’s customization team will work with you to find the solution to your every fancy—provided it’s physically possible and you have the budget to make it happen, that is.
